The expertise and dedication that originated in small Northern European communities generations ago, was brought to North America by father and son “herring slingers” Solomon and Joseph Krongold in the 1930's. Solomon established the first Toronto manufacturing facility in the 1930’s and was among the first to promote the use of Canadian herring as a food supply.

Joseph incorporated Feature Foods in 1968 and through his hard work and vision, Feature Foods grew into a successful company. Lorne, a third generation “herring slinger”, now owns and operates Feature Foods. Having honed his skills growing up in the herring business, Lorne proudly carries his father’s vision and strives to keep his heritage of premium quality manufacturing alive and well.
